Our Mission

Welcome to H2i, home of Heart Healthy Information.  I am so glad that you are potentially interested.  I would like to explain why I believe that working with H2i could be one of the most important decisions you ever make.  It's clear that heart disease kills more people world-wide than any other disease. Unfortunately, it can hit hard, with no warning. Most people are at risk, but some more than others. My goal is to help you discover your own "personal risk", and then guide you on the path to help prevent a heart problem, so that you can live a long and prosperous life.

  • Have you (or someone you're close to) ever had a heart problem, and you want to do everything possible in the way of prevention?

  • Do you have a family history of heart disease, or other "risk factors" (high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol numbers, overweight, diabetes, cigarette smoking history, and more...) and you want to reduce your risk of getting a heart problem?

  • Are you seeing a Cardiologist (or Cardiology NP or PA) but you feel like you still have many questions that have been unanswered?

  • Perhaps you are aware of the fact that heart disease is the number one killer in  most industrialized countries, and you just want to be proactive and live a long life?

If you can answer yes to any of these, then read on >

I have observed, for years now, that patients want (and need) more, and providers are giving less. There are a variety of reasons for this, but the bottom line here is that this "gap" has left patients in the dark. My mission is to shed light on this darkness.

I truly believe that the time has come for all patients to embrace the knowledge of heart disease. I learned all about heart disease through years of training and decades of patient interactions and continued learning. My goal is to enlighten you, and show you what you really "need" to know. With some time and effort, you too can learn much of this, by using my platform.

Unfortunately, providers do not have the time or motivation to do this. I do. I am in a unique position where I work "half-time." I am still in practice, allowing me the ability to not only keep up my skills and knowledge, but to also stay up to date with the latest greatest medications and procedures. When I am not practicing, my goal is to complete this educational program for you, the patient who wants to learn.

My mission to to teach you one subject at a time, as if I was in the room with you, just one-on-one, to explain the ins and out of that particular cardiovascular related subject. If it is about a cardiac illness, I will discuss the frequency, the theories on cause, potential symptoms, how we make the diagnosis, and what treatment options exist. If the topic is a form of heart healthy exercise, I hope to review the methods of how to do this, how much, and how often, but most imporantly "why" you need to do this. If we are reviewing a cardiac procedure, I will focus on who needs this type of procedure, why it needs to be done, how we do it, what might go wrong, and how you might benefit. And much more...

When learning takes place in a physician's office, it has been shown that very little is recalled once back home. There is usually some degree of anxiety impeding the process. With my platform, you can receive more detailed discussions, while sitting, relaxed, sipping on a cup of coffee or tea, and learn at your own pace. Plus, there is a written manuscript. You could even re-read it multiple times, if you like.

I truly believe this will provide you with the background you want and need, to be an active member of YOUR healthcare team. No, my goal is not to make you into a mini-Cardiologist. You will need to have a Cardiologist on your team. Get one you like, or at least one you can work with.

My mission is to give you that floor to stand on, that base to build on, so that you can stand up tall, walk up to that plate, and also participate in a meaningful way. Just like the visit to the mechanic, you cannot have a productive discussion about the broken Serpentine belt, if you didn't even know there was such an entity. You are left with just saying yes or no to the repair. Who is brave (or foolish) enough to say no?. Well your heart and the decisions with your Cardiologist are similar, except last time I checked, your heart is a lot more important.

Heart healthy goals take time and perseverence to achieve. There is no easy fix. But the time to start is now, and I offer you a realistic way to get there. One step at a time....
